BMPView was written by: Leland C. Sheppard Sheppard Software Company 4621 Luneman Road Placerville, CA 95667 CIS ID: 70574,2146 from the Internet: 70574.2146@Compuserve.com The BMPView program is shareware. If you use the program regularly and are interested in having us continue to develop it and other such programs, you should register the program with us. You may register BMPView for $3.00. In order to register, fill in the Register.Txt form, make out a check payable to Leland C. Sheppard and mail both to the address shown above. If you are interested in the Utility Pack and you have a Compuserve ID and you prefer to register online, simply Go SWREG and register #6193 for UTLPAR.ZIP or #6194 for UTLPAK.ZIP. Because of price constraints on SWREG, only the Utility Pack can be registered online; individual programs may be registered directly with us as described in the preceding paragraph. BMPView was written in VX-REXX 2.1 and requires the VX-REXX 2.1 (or higher) runtime module (VROBJ.DLL) in order to function. Also, REXX and REXXUTIL must be installed on your system; both REXX and REXXUTIL come with OS/2. File BMPVIR.ZIP contains the VROBJ.DLL module; file BMPVIW.ZIP does not. Only one copy of VROBJ.DLL is required for all of the VX-REXX programs on your system; if you have previously downloaded a copy of it, you do NOT need to download it again. HOW TO OPERATE BMPView: You can start the program from an OS/2 command line with a parameter of the fully qualified file name of the bitmap file to be viewed. The image can be increased to full screen by pressing the maximize button. There are 3 ways to end BMPView: Double click on the upper left corner of the window, press Alt-F4 or click the left mouse button anywhere inside the window. You can also define a program object pointing to BMPView.EXE. If you specify, "[Enter File Name]" in the parameter line, OS/2 will ask you to specify a file name when you start BMPVIew. If you specify the directory containing BMPView as the working directory, BMPView will be able to find this file when you press F1. NOTE: The enclosed Install.Cmd file will define a folder, the program object, the appropriate parameter line and the working directory for you. You can use wildcards in the file name; i.e., to display all bitmaps in a directory, specify the pathname followed by "*.bmp"; for example, "d:\os2\bitmap\*.bmp". Each time you click the left mouse button inside the BMPView window, the next bitmap file will be displayed. If you click in the window when no more files remain to be displayed, BMPView will terminate. As each file is displayed, the caption of the BMPView window shows the name of the file, its width and height in pixels and the number of colors the file was captured with. BMPView is drag and drop enabled; i.e., you can drag the icon for a bitmap file to the BMPView icon and drop it and the program will then display the bitmap file. You can also drag a folder containing bitmaps to the BMPView icon and drop it. Each time you click the left mouse button inside the BMPView window, the next file will be displayed. If the file is of a type that BMPView cannot display, the appropriate icon for the file type will be displayed instead; in that case just click again to continue on to the next file. If you defined BMPView with a parameter line as described above and then attempt to use drag and drop, you will get the parameterized message. At that point simply press ENTER without entering a file name and the drag and drop operation will complete normally. BMPView can view OS/2 .BMP files, .VGA and .BGA files and Windows .BMP files. Thank you for your interest in our software. Leland C. Sheppard, 11-21-1995 Version 2.1 Changes from version 2.0 to 2.1: Added ability to adjust window size to match bitmap file instead of adjusting bitmap to match window which distorted many bitmaps. Also added bitmap dimensions and number of colors to window caption. Changes from version 1.0 to 2.0: Added ability to display multiple bitmap files using wildcards and/or drag and drop of a folder. Added name of file being displayed to window caption. (c) Copyright Leland C. Sheppard, 1995. All rights reserved.
